The Gazmen "Rigormortis Rock"
Rigormotis Rock is a four track EP by The Gazmen lead by Gary Day supporting Gary are Alain Whyte, Alain Wilson and P. Paul
Hodges. The Gazmen only ever released this 4 track EP but according to Alain Wilson they recorded more as demos at his old
studio which are unreleased. The EP was released in 2002 on Rockit Records and is some of psychobilly's finest. The four
tracks on the EP are "Rigormortis Rock", "Teenage Operation", "Kid From Mars", and "Ace
Of Hearts"
The title track "Rigormortis Rock" was apparently written by Alain Wilson as a joke years ago and it was first
released on Nervous records in the early 80's under the pseudonym of The Space Cadets. "Teenage Operation" and "Kid
From Mars" were both written by Gary Day and "Ace Of Hearts" was written by both Gary Day and Alain Whyte.
The album is a wonderful slice of weirdness and feathers Gary Day sounding like a crazed Cockney gravedigger. My favorite
tracks on this EP are the title track "Rigormortis Rock" and "Ace Of Hearts". I found this album to be
in a wonderful weird way fun. And since listing to this i have gone on to enjoy more of Gary Day's work with the likes of
The Frantic Flintstones. Which is a band Gary Day also plays bass in and singes.
This is another album that is not very easy to get hold off. so if you see it, get it, especially if you find a copy in
viny. You may be able to find a copy of it on the Internet. If not a CD titled "Rockin' with Morrissey's side-men"
contains all forum tracks with also other Gary Day track by "The Frantic Flintstones" and work with "The Sharks"
the CD also contains work by Boz Boorer, Alain Whyte.
